It’s so easy to forget things on your wedding day… there is so much to remember! Here are a few things that are often overlooked.

      1. Have bouquets with you when getting ready.
This is so easy to forget. (Guilty! – Our wedding was late in starting because I forgot to bring the flowers to the park!) Having your bouquets delivered or brought to where you are getting ready, will allow your detail images to include your flowers. If you want those beautiful shots of the rings on the flowers, we’ll need to have access to your bouquet. You’ll also want the bouquets for the bridesmaids portraits and boutonnieres for the guys, as well as your first look, if doing so.

      2. Have all three wedding bands available for detail pictures.
Those rings are precious! It’s understandable to want to give them to the best man or maid of honor and not have to worry about them. However, the best photo options with the rings are presented early-on, while you’re getting ready and we’re capturing details. It is possible to shoot the rings during the reception but you’ll have more variety if they are available to photograph when we arrive. We’ve also found that a lot of couples have no desire to take that ring off after the ceremony!

      3. Bring your entire wedding announcement.
Thinking to bring your invitation to your wedding is definitely not automatic for most brides. Your stationery suite, however, shows off so much of your personal taste and is a big detail of your wedding. If you remember to bring it along, it can be photographed and beautifully preserved with the rest of your wedding day details!

      4. Make sure you can sit (and breathe) in your dress.
Hard to believe, but there have been brides who were not be able to sit for dinner because their dress was so tight! Some dresses make it hard to breathe while sitting, so make sure to try it before the wedding and adjust your dress accordingly.

      5. Everyone loves those portraits in the field, except your heels.
Without a doubt, those lovely heels are going to sink on the walk out to that gorgeous sunset portrait location. To avoid this, it’s beneficial to have some heel stoppers or a pair of flats to wear while walking on soft ground.

      6. Don’t sweat the small stuff.
Of all the past tips, this may be the most important! Tiny imperfections do not show up in your portraits. It’s natural to want to look your best as you walk down that aisle, but if you happen to get a little spot on your dress before that, it’s really not going to matter that much! Look through photos of wedding after wedding and you won’t be able to pick out which brides have a small imperfection somewhere. Try not to stress about it and trust that everyone attending your wedding will agree you look nothing short of amazing!

      7. Pause often to take it all in.
We have had brides tell us years after their wedding how much they missed because of the hustle and busy of their day. Do your best to pause often and take in what’s going on. Stopping to enjoy the moments with those who are so special to you will allow you to remember them even more!

      Best wishes,

      Chris and Jeannette
